Shaadii ka Ghar !!!

The past week was a memorable one………I sang, danced, saw ppll fight, shout and yell at each other, gossip, and bitch about each other , got dressed up and had fun ! These are how Indian marriages go about ….
The day I landed in my hometown….I ran to my Nani’s place . Everyone had gathered for our dear, little kid of the family ‘Choti’s’ wedding !!
All the rooms were full…The TV room had been occupied by all the male members of the extended families who were mostly silent until and unless involved in very engrossing discussions about petrol prices, new government in Bihar, religion , public departments and every stuff under the sun remotely related to the occasion for which they had been cordially invited.
The middle room had all the ladies and their vocal chords working at maximum capacity , chattering and gossiping , working together in the kitchen, showing off their latest assets and creating a perfect environment for all the gossip mongers of the house. The other room was full of all kinds of stuff…suitcases, bags opened and stuff coming out, jewelry boxes and what not. The little children had little choice other than to cry at regular intervals to keep their mom’s attention on them and sometimes to indicate that they had been fed long time now…. The little older generation of kids were running around all the rooms , shouting and playing chuppan chupai, bhagam bhag, ice spice and chidiya uddd ….and this wasn’t enough …more ppl were pouring in every hour….!
The ladies of the house had most of the work…. They had to shop, arrange stuff for all the ceremonies, sing songs and dance for the bride, cook and serve the daily, get dressed and look good too J. The men mostly sat, had grave discussions and ate at fixed hours. The boys had to run about everywhere for all types of chores. And there are all kinds of ppl here. Some who sit and behave guests like and gossip, others who are always running around for work, few others who would like to create some amount of tension by pulling up the fighting strings and rest whose presence lightens up the atmosphere….
The most amazing thing that I observed was whenever anything went wrong or wary….. The clichéd was repeated “Arre bhai ! shaadi ka ghar hai …hota rehta hai “ J. This sentences lifted every spirit up and ppl were back in the mahila sangeet mode merry making and dancing on “Munni badnaam hui”, “Sasural genda phool”, “Bolo tarara”…….
After all the euphoria, chaos and drama...when I look back ,....I realize that all's well that ends well........or probably
its a new starting for the love birds now :)
