Things I learnt over the weekend!
Random thoughts that ought to be added to my mental library of "Life is full of surprises".... without sounding preachy-
- Faith, in any form, is a humbling and profoundly enriching experience. Everyone should consider believing in something—anything—whether it’s an unknown higher power or a concept that transcends our understanding. It’s about discovering what resonates with you and learning how to tune into that frequency once you crack the code! I am still learning what that code is though :D
- Watching a sunset can help slow down the racing thoughts in your constantly hustling mind. However, it also opens a Pandora's box of life's difficult questions—what and why. Despite this, I would still recommend it 100%! :)
- The courage to do something boldly reckless—something that quickens your heartbeat—is one of the most life-altering experiences you can have!
- Somewhere, someone always appears out of nowhere when you least expect it, and it's rarely a pleasant surprise! :D
- Reliving old memories is always a mood booster. However, I've learned the hard way that nostalgia isn't always good. We should strive to live in the moment as much as possible because this new experience will eventually become nostalgia one day. You can't constantly reminisce about a time when you were reminiscing about another time, all the time. Do you get my point?
- Trying new experiences, on the other hand, is the best way to create lasting memories and nostalgia. These experiences can be exciting, frightening, awesome, or even bittersweet, but they are moments that you own completely. Each experience is a tiny fragment of your sense of self, and since you are composed of millions of these fragments, you have the ability to renew your overall sense of self simply by being open and receptive to new things coming your way. Instead of clinging tightly to memories that have exhausted and outlived their purpose in your life, embrace the new experiences that can elevate you.
- Talking to strangers can be surprisingly entertaining. I was trying to sleep—actually dozing off—on my flight when an unassuming gentleman next to me tapped my hand and began asking innocent questions. He wanted to know if he was in the correct seat, how much my flight ticket cost :D, and was delighted to discover that free meals were served during the flight. He then asked about my job and where I lived, sharing stories about his village life without even prompting! :D This encounter made me realize that many people feel lonely inside and crave connection.
- You shouldn't be afraid to love, even if there are no returns—if you're capable of doing so. Don't hesitate to care, express your emotions, share your feelings, or let people know what they mean to you while they're still here. After all, we only have one life, and we won't survive it anyway! :) Let's bottle up high spirits instead of sentiments and desires!
